[10:40:41, August 19, 2008] Wang Tan: The second is how the policy was implemented. The main basis for college admission is the college admission plan, the candidate’s results, the evaluation of his overall quality, and his wish. In the process of admission, we strictly operated in accordance with the scientific procedure, strictly implemented all the policies for admission, adhered to the people-oriented idea, observed the principle of being responsible for the candidates and the public, and maintained the impartiality and seriousness of college admission.
[10:41:55, August 19, 2008] Wang Tan: The third is the seven measures ensured the smooth carrying out the admission.
1. To strengthen leadership, clarify responsibilities, and fully implement the responsibility system.
2. To fully carry out the "Sunshine Project." We took fairness and justice as the focus, the construction of the system as the basis, open information as the emphasis, strict management as the key, quality service as the support, and proper supervision as the guarantee, and all this made the admission more open and transparent, ensuring the fair and just result of admission.
3. To give priority to precaution, and emphatically deal with the focal points of the work so as to ensure the order of admission.
4. To further strengthen the use and management of the adjusted plan. Collective discussion and collective decision-making were made, and the work was done in strict accordance with established procedures.
5. To improve the supervisory mechanism. Test and admission were administered according to the law. The supervision was strengthened of the important posts, periods, links, and people. Any act in violation of the regulations was seriously investigated and deal with.
6. To pay much attention to letters and visits of complaints. Competent and responsible personnel with a good service attitude were assigned to the work related to letters and visits of complaints, and they seriously dealt with every letter, phone call and visit. The work won wide praise of the public.
7. To implement the reporting system. An effective mechanism of management was established with smooth flow of information, unimpeded government orders and rapid response.
[10:50:26, August 19, 2008] Wang Tan: The fourth is the arrangement to re-solicit the candidates’ wishes.
According to our province’s planned admission for this year, the Provincial Education Department and the Provincial Educational Test and Admission Institute will organize a re-solicitation of candidates’ wishes based on the number of students registered at colleges, in order to ensure to make a good and full use of the admission plan for general institutions of higher learning and provide more schooling opportunities for the candidates. In short, our province`s admission work was performed very smoothly and the admission plan was carried through successfully this year. The number of letters and visitors decreased significantly, and no incident that affected social stability ever happened, to the satisfaction of the masses of the people, the party and the government. Thank you.
