Press Briefing on the Seventh China Flower Expo

[10:04:32, April 28, 2009] Li Jianjun: We are here today to hold a press briefing on the Seventh China Flower Expo. The Shandong Exhibition will be hosted by the State Forestry Administration, China Flower Association and Shandong Provincial People`s Government and organized by Qingzhou Municipal People`s Government. Today, we have invited Mr. Gao Hongbo, deputy director of the Office of the Provincial Government, Mr. Wu Qinggang, deputy director of the Provincial Forestry Bureau, Mr. Chen Baifeng, Vice Mayor of Weifang City, Mr. Xu Jinguang, vice president and secretary-general of the Provincial Flower Association, Mr. Sun Zhongli, deputy secretary of Qingzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Qingzhou, and Mr. Chen Junqiang, member of the Standing Committee of Qingzhou Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor, to give a briefing on the Seventh China Flower Expo and answer journalists’ questions.

[10:07:40, April 28, 2009] Chen Baifeng: Since June 2007 when we obtained the right to hold the Seventh Expo, its preparatory work has been progressing smoothly.

[10:08:13, April 28, 2009] Chen Baifeng: First, leaders at all levels attach great importance to the expo and the relevant departments give their strong support. Second, we all adhere to the guiding idea of holding the exhibition with special features. Third, we highlight the development of flower industry. Fourth, we take the expo as an opportunity to pull economic development. Fifth, Attention is paid to publicity to increase our influence.

The second is to further strengthen efforts to attract business. The third is to further strengthen publicity and promotion work. The fourth is to plan carefully and conscientiously make a good job of reception for the expo. The fifth is to arrange security work well.

[10:21:07, April 28, 2009] Gao Hongbo: Today there are 150 days to go before the opening of the Seventh China Flower Expo, and the preparatory work for the Seventh Expo has reached the sprint stage. Now, I would like to make three suggestions briefly.

[10:21:51, April 28, 2009] Gao Hongbo: First, we should fully understand the significance of the Seven Expo held in Shandong.

[10:22:02, April 28, 2009] Gao Hongbo: Shandong Province is large province in terms of economy, agriculture and flower production. It is a major flower production area in our country, and flower production has become an important pillar industry for our province`s rural economic development and farmers’ income increase. As the highest-level, the largest-scale and most influential flower event, the China Flower Expo is praised as the Olympics in the flower industry and it has been held six times in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, and Sichuan. The Seventh China Flower Expo will be held in Qingzhou, Weifang, from September 26 to October 5 this year.

[10:24:13, April 28, 2009] Gao Hongbo: The Seven Expo is a national event, and a national organizing committee for the Seven Expo has been set up, with Luo Fuhe, Vice-Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, as its honorary chairman.

[10:27:07, April 28, 2009] Gao Hongbo: Third, we should go all out to make a good job of the preparatory work for the Seventh Expo.

[10:27:17, April 28, 2009] Gao Hongbo: Now the preparatory work for the Seventh Expo has reached the sprint stage, and the relevant departments at all levels must attach great importance to it, further strengthen the measures, strengthen their efforts to form combined force, and focus on three tasks. First, to speed up comprehensively.

We should upgrade the overall level of the exhibition for business attraction, the construction of infrastructure, and the city’s appearance and image. Emphasis should be put on accelerating the building of the outdoor exhibition areas. Prominence should be given to the characteristics, outstanding brands, and the flower industry. The scientific and technological content should be increased, and industry level should be upgraded.

[10:49:24, April 28, 2009] Li Jianjun: The Seven China Flower Expo is a major event for Shandong Province, which is of great importance for Shandong Province to display its image and promote the development of the flower industry. It is hoped that the news media will give it an extensive publicity and coverage so as to create a favorable atmosphere of public opinion for the success of the event and to make due contributions to the promotion of the development of Shandong’s flower industry and a new stride in enriching the people and strengthening the province.
