A student in Shandong Province has failed to graduate because he spent all his time and money shooting a 26,000-yuan (US$3,323) autobiographical film.

Zhang wrote a 30,000-word script last summer telling the story of him and his first girlfriend.

He did a professional acting course and shot the film using himself in the leading role and his friends in support roles. The one-and-a-half-hour film is being shown at Zhang''s university. The money he spent on the film was from his parents to cover the cost of his study. His university suspended his studies because he did not pay his fees on time.
