A young female bus driver was given a local government bravery award of 5,000 yuan (US$639) recently, after she fought off an armed robber and helped police arrest him days ago.
Li Huimin works on the 42 Bus Line in Jinan, capital of Shandong Province. On December 22 a man boarded Li''''s bus with a saw, forcing passengers to get off.

He ordered Li to drive to Fuzhou, Fujian Province. Li drove slowly, with police cars in pursuit.

The man tried to grab the steering wheel, but Li fought him off and opened the door.

Police charged into the bus and arrested the man.
