A shepherd has trained a goose to guard his sheep in Jiaozhou, Shandong Province.

Every morning the goose leads his flock 2 km to pasture and if strangers approach or sheep fall behind it flaps its wings, extends its neck and starts honking.

The sheep are said to be happy with the arrangement and when the goose is not guarding his wooly friends he guards the farmer`s house instead. In eight years the owner has not lost any sheep or had his home broken into.
