BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- China`s top legislator Wu Bangguo urged his colleagues on Sunday to better understand President Hu Jintao`s report delivered at the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to further improve the legislation work.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People`s Congress (NPC), made the remarks when a five-day bimonthly legislation session ended.

Wu, also a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, said Hu`s report has required the NPC to better carry out legislating obligations set by the country`s Constitution and better connect the public to the government and Party.

He asked legislators to well learn Hu`s report and the Scientific Outlook on Development to improve the top legislature`s work in boosting the building of socialist economy, culture, politics and society.

All NPC work should be guided by the Party`s theories to ensure that laws and regulations adopted by the NPC could accord with the people`s interests and the Party`s proposition, he said.

The standing committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People`s Political Consultative Conference, China`s top advisory body, also held a study session on Sunday to learn Hu`s report.
