Dying patient thought of others in her last days

A leukemia patient who succumbed to the disease on Tuesday has had her corneas removed for donation in accordance with her wishes.

The donor, Wen Li, a mother of a three-year-old in Tai`an, Shandong Province, was diagnosed with late-stage leukemia last January.

Her family members spent all their savings on her treatment but failed to save her life.

Knowing that corneas can help people suffering from eye diseases regain their sight, Wen volunteered to donate her corneas after her death to the needy.
