    Unpopularity contest stirs company waters

A company in Laixi, Shandong Province, is planning to hold an unpopularity contest to identify the three least-liked people in the office. They will be fired next year.

One employee told reporters that he would nominate people he disliked, not people who were bad at their jobs. Another worker, surnamed Zhang, said he was concerned his name would appear on the list since his boss often praises him for his diligence, much to the dismay of his envious colleagues.

Officials from a local social security bureau are investigating the situation and said the contest is probably unfair and possibly illegal.

Observers wonder whether the boss should worry - his name could end up on the list.
