Police believe that a tightly-locked safe found in a corn field one week ago might have been discarded there by thieves who stole it but failed to open it.

Police were alerted to the safe in the field on August 14. They hurried to the spot and took it back. After investigations, they found that a retiree in the neighborhood had reported a stolen safe, two weeks ago.

On Monday, the retiree claimed the safe back and said he had kept it for many years but had never put nothing in it.

As the safe is very heavy, the retiree guesses that it must have taken at least two robbers much effort to cart it away.
