To encourage local residents to not use plastic bags, several supermarkets in Weifang, Shandong province, have introduced incentives. One supermarket offers its customers 0.1 yuan if they decline to take a plastic bag. Another supermarket offers customers a cloth bag in exchange for 10 plastic bags and two old batteries.
