A young female student in Shandong province has been caring for her ailing mother now for 10 years.

Sun Shasha, 18, studies at the Linyi Teachers College. When she was 8, her mother was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and her father left without saying goodbye.

Sun cooked for her mother and ploughed the family`s parcel of land by herself. After entering a senior high school with good scores in 2005, Sun became concerned because it was more than 15 km from home. She rented a small room near the school so that she could cook and massage her mother.

After entering the Linyi Teachers College last year, Sun rented a room near the campus to live with her mom. To support the family, she has done odd jobs both in and outside the campus. Her goal is to earn enough money so her mother can stand up again.
