Qingdao: The first FPSO (Floating Production Storage Offloading) unit made by China Offshore Oil Engineering Co, Ltd was nominated “Pyrnees Venture” at Qingdao Offshore Oil Engineering Court on September 9.
The “Pyrnees Venture” is a FPSO system made by Australia Pyrenees Oil Field, with various functions of upper module, building, installation and connection design, as well as debugging.
It is 274.29 meters long, 48 meters wide with an operation depth of 200 meters per day. The tanker will be able to treat 96,000 barrels of crude oil as well as 60,000,000 cubic feet of natural gas per day.
The contractor of the “Pyrenees Venture” is MODEC Corp and it is the first time its client BHP Billiton has purchased this kind of huge FPSO in China. It also marks the first time Offshore Oil Engineering has delivered an entire FPSO from its own operation court.
