Urban construction has made much progress. 26 billion yuan is invested in urban construction. The total investment in road construction is 2.5 billion yuan. 279 kilometers of road is newly-built and 91 kilometers of river course is dredged. By the end of 2005, the rate of greenbelt in the city is 39.1%; the per capita public green area is 9 square meters, an increase of 0.4 square meter. The percentage of forest cover is 24.2%.
The public affairs undertaking is developing rapidly. The volume of pipeline gas, LPG and natural gas supplied reach 59.1 million cubic meters, 50,000 tons, 80 million cubic meters which cover 2.49 million people. Central heating covers an area of 32.55 million square meters and the popularization rate is 46%, an increase of 3%. The volume of running water provided is 320 million tons. Public undertakings are developing fast. By the end of 2005, there are 1096 vehicles in different operations and the passengers transported reach 560 million person-times, an increase of 12%. There are 7700 taxis. The electricity used amounts to 15.29 billion KWh, an increase of 15.6% including 2.52 billion KWh for residents’ daily life, an increase of 22.3%.
The environmental quality has improved. By the end of the year, 269.16 square kilometers of smoke-controlled areas are constructed; 127.56 square kilometers have reached the set standard for noise control. There are 262 days with fine weather. Water pollution prevention and management have made obvious achievements. 100% of the drinking water sources have reached the set standard. The average equivalent noise of road traffic is 69.4 decibel and the average equivalent noise in the daytime of regional environment is 53.5 decibel, both of which have reached the set standard.
