Culture, journalism, publishing and broadcasting undertakings are developing well. By the end of 2005, there are 14 arts organizations, 152 cultural centers, 9 museums, 14 archives, 8 public libraries, 335 antique protection centers among which 8 are at the national level. 1.682 billion copies of newspapers, 940 million magazines and 330 million books are issued. Broadcasting and TV cover 100% and 99.84% respectively of the population. The daily broadcasting time is 375:40 and the weekly broadcast of TV programs is 2741:35, an increase of 24:00 and 41:25 respectively.
Hygienic undertaking is developing steadily. By the end of 2005, there are 1917 hygienic organizations including 153 hospitals. There are 24,400 hospital beds, an increase of 1.48%; 34,800 hygienic technical personnel, an increase of 2.36% including 12,900 professional doctors, an increase of 2.16%. There are 4.08 sickbeds for every thousand people and 2.16 doctors for every thousand people.

Sports has made new achievements. In 2005, the athletes of Jinan won 6 gold medals and 1 silver medal in continental competitions; 10 gold medals, 9 silver medals and 11 bronze medals in national competitions; 169.5 gold medals, 124 silver medals and 107 bronze medals in provincial competitions.
