The disposable income of urban residents is 13578 yuan, an increase of 13.1%; the net income of rural residents is 4812 yuan, an increase of 14.6% which is 0.6% higher than the disposable income of the urban people. The relative difference between the income of urban and rural residents has narrowed. The living conditions of urban and rural residents have improved. The per capita consumption expenditure of urban residents is 9227 yuan, an increase of 7.5%. The per capita consumption expenditure for daily life of rural residents is 2903 yuan, an increase of 14.2%. The consumption patterns of urban and rural residents have changed and their living conditions have improved. Urban residents pay more attention to consumption quality and spend more on leisure and entertainment activities. The per capita expenditure on leisure and entertainment is 93.8 yuan, an increase of 17.2% which accounts for 10.2% of the consumption expenditure. Savings deposits in both urban and rural areas have shown a rapid increase. In 2005, the deposits of urban and rural residents reach 102.44 billion yuan, an increase of 17.7% compared with the beginning of the year. The housing conditions of urban and rural residents have greatly improved.
