It is said that realgar wine has function of detoxification and killing bacteria. Zong Zi is a pyramid-shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice and dates wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. In addition, eggs are usually eaten on this day.

Fifteen day after Grain in Ear (9th solar term) is the Summer Solstice (10th solar term). The custom is to eat noodles with sesame sauce. In addition, people are used to eating stewed, fried or grilled newly harvested wheat seed.

Qi Qiao Festival

Also called Lover’s Day in China, is on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month. The custom for this festival is to eat noodles, dumplings, buns and baked flour food.

The Mie-autumn Festival

Also called the Reunion Festival. It is on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. The custom is “to place moon cakes, melons and nuts in the yard and view the bright moon while eating. Families that have wedlock relations will present melons and moon cakes as gift. And relatives will have banquet in the moonlight”. Moon cake is the delicious food for the festival, which means “reunion”.

The Double Ninth Festival

Also called the Chrysanthemum Festival. It is on the 9th day of the 9th lunar month. The custom is to “climb on the mountain, view chrysanthemum, drink cornus officinalis wine and eat colorful cakes.”In addition, it is fashionable to eat red flesh turnip, persimmon and dried persimmon.

>The Winter Solstice

>Fifteen days after the 21st solar term is the Winter Solstice. The custom is to eat dumplings. In Chinese, it symbolize that “don’t but the ears of other people’s”. 

>La Ba Festival

>In Chinese, La means 8th. So La Ba Festival means the festival on the 8th. So La Ba Festival means the festival on the 8th day of the 12th lunar month. The custom is that people drink porridge made of the five cereals (rice, two other kinds of millet, wheat and beans) and other food crops which is called “La Ba Porridge”. The method to cook La Ba porridge varies such as ropy, sweet, fragrant and sticky. On this day, “La Ba garlic” is salted in many families. 

>The Off-year Festival

>The Off-year Festival is on the 23rd of the 12th lunar month. On this day the Kitchen Deity is sent off to the heaven to say good words for the mundane people. The sacrifice offerings for the festival include sticky cake, sprout sugar and fruit wine and etc. After the sacrifice is over, the offerings can be eaten by the family members. 

>The New Year’s Eve

>The last time of a lunar year. The most important activity is to eat night meals, drink wine and stuff dumplings. This is the most important festival for common people all over a year.
